Secretary III – Dahlgren, Virginia
Background:
Kent, Campa and Kate Incorporated (KCK) is a federal contracting company that provides professional services to Government Agencies. We are currently seeking candidates for Secretary III position for an administrative support contract.
Position Summary:
The Secretary III provides high-level secretarial and administrative support to a senior supervisor or manager within a complex organizational environment. This role requires considerable initiative, independent judgment, and the ability to effectively handle varied administrative tasks with minimal supervision.
The location of work is in Dahlgren, Virginia. The Secretary functions in an office environment, interacting regularly with staff, management, and external contacts. The role demands discretion, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Requirements:
- Experience Minimum: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a related field.
- Proficiency in office software programs and familiarity with general office procedures and policies.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to follow technical direction as delivered by the CO, COR, ACOR, or GTM.
- Superior organization skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong initiative and judgment to handle non-routine situations effectively.
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality in all interactions.
- Ability to interact effectively in a multicultural setting.
- The ability to work effectively and on a team with colleagues in various employment categories such as civil service, uniformed armed forces members, and other contract employees.
Preferred Requirements:
- Secondary education, such as associates or bachelor’s degrees.
- Work experience within a military command or operational environment preferred.
Work Duties (including, but not limited to):
- Based on knowledge of the office supervisor's views, compose correspondence on own initiative about administrative matters and general office policies for office supervisor's approval.
- Anticipate and prepare materials needed by the office supervisor for conferences, correspondence, appointments, meetings, telephone calls, etc., and informs supervisor on matters to be considered.
- Read publications, regulations, and directives and take action or refer those that are important to the office supervisor and staff.
- Prepare special or one-time reports, summaries, or replies to inquiries, selecting relevant information from a variety of sources such as reports, documents, correspondence, other offices, etc., under general directions.
- Advise secretaries in subordinate offices on new procedures; request information needed from the subordinate office(s) for periodic or special conferences, reports, inquiries, etc., and shifts clerical staff to accommodate workload needs.
- Using judgment and initiative to determine the approach or action to take in non-routine situations, interprets and adapts guidelines, including unwritten policies, precedents, and practices, which are not always completely applicable to changing situations.
