The role requires delivering specialized training on the Northstar Media Monitoring Tool, designed to enhance U.S. diplomatic practitioners' media analysis and reporting capabilities. This trainer will play a key role in both introductory and advanced training across the Department of State and other U.S. Government offices, with a focus on helping teams use Northstar to customize solutions for their specific missions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of experience in developing and delivering training, particularly for complex analytical tools.
  • Skills:
    • Expertise in curriculum design, with a strong understanding of digital media analysis and reporting tools.
    • Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to a diverse audience.
    • Familiarity with AI-driven tools, media monitoring systems, and social media analytics.
  • Travel: Must be available to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Training Development:

    • Develop a comprehensive training curriculum tailored to Northstar’s features, including basic and advanced functionality such as AI capabilities, media narratives, and social media analysis.
    • Customize training content for different U.S. diplomatic missions to align with their unique use cases and reporting needs.
    • Create training materials, including presentations, manuals, videos, and hands-on exercises to enhance user engagement and skill development.
  2. Training Delivery:

    • Conduct training sessions both virtually and in-person, including demos, briefings, and workshops. Sessions may occur during business hours and occasionally outside of regular hours to accommodate global time zones.
    • Travel domestically and internationally to provide in-depth, mission-specific training at U.S. embassies and consulates.
  3. Collaboration and Support:

    • Coordinate with various offices within the Department of State, including the Office of Digital Support and Training, to integrate Northstar into broader departmental workflows.
    • Act as an independent advisor to GPA/AN on how to deploy the platform effectively, offering feedback on both technical and functional aspects of the tool.

    • Develop pre-training and post-training assessments to gauge participants' understanding and skill application.
    • Provide detailed feedback to the Department of State based on participant assessments and training session outcomes.
    • Submit monthly training reports and maintain logs of training sessions conducted.

Additional Information:

  • This is a mostly remote position, with occasional in-office work required at the Department of State's location in Washington, D.C.
  • No security clearance is required initially, though candidates may need to complete a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) clearance.
  • Work hours are generally 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with flexibility to adjust for global training sessions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with government agencies, particularly in foreign affairs or diplomatic contexts.
  • Knowledge of media analysis tools and a strong grasp of U.S. foreign policy objectives.
